TO BECOME AN IPS OFFICER YOU HAVE TO GIVE civil services examination which is conducted by upsc every year , the notification for the examination is released in the month of February or march in all the leading newspapers and employments news paper,

so if you want to appear in the examination then you

should keep your eyes on it during this period .

to become an IPS officer you must have the qualification required for the same which are as under:-

eligibility criteria or requirements:-

1. candidate have the Indian citizenship.

2. candidate must be a graduate or in final year of graduation ,but the condition is that the university must be recognized by the govt.

age criteria also an important requirement to e eligible for the examination to be fulfilled by the candidates.

age criteria:-

1. the age criteria for general category is 21-30 years,

and for obc and sc/st the age limit is increased with 3 and 5 yrs respectively as they get 3 and 5 yrs age relaxation by the Indian government.

and yes it is important for you to know that there is an restriction of no f attempts so that you will alert.

No.of attempts :-

1. for general category:- 21-30 yrs.

2. for obc category:- 21-33 yrs.

3. for sc/st category:- 21-35 yrs.

IPS-India police service. This exam is conducted on upsc in once the year. Eligible for IPS following as: graduate from recognized university and all final year students also can apply.the minimum age limit is 21. The maximum age limit is 30 (general category),33( OBC),35(SC/ST),40(physically changer). You must be Indian. Number of attempt in General category is 4 times, OBC is 7 times,SC/ST is no limit.

• You must appear in the Civil services examination for entering into Indian police services i.e IPS.
• In order to appear in this exam, you must have the graduation degree in any of discipline which have to be from the recognised university.
• Age of your's need to be in between 21 years to 30 years.
• If you are from obc category, then 3 years of age relaxations, for sc/st category it's 5 years.
• You must have to be citizen of India.
• It has three stages which are preliminary exam, main exam and interview.

candidate must on Indian citizen.

10 years relaxation on physical ability candidates.

For getting into the indian police service you need to appear for the exam conducted by upsc, the civil services examination. For giving this examination, you need to be a graduate in any stream from a recognized Indian university and your age should be in between 21-30 years.
A relaxation of 3 and 5 years is given to the obc and the sc/st category respectively.
The number of attempts also varies according to the category.
For general, the number of attempts are 4.
For obc, the number of attempts are 7 and there is no limit for the number of attempts for the sc/st category.

You must have a minimum of GRADUATION from a recognized university

The minimum age must be " 21 " years


Maximum age is allowed up to " 30 " years

Of course there will be an age relaxation for the reserved candidates


OBC -- 3 YEARS

SC / ST -- 4 YEARS ..


Final year candidates are also eligible to apply for the exam

You must be an Indian Citizen


You must have secured a minimum of 60% in your Academics ..

Indian Police Service Examination - Before everything, you should know that Indian Police Service is a national service that is under central government of India and IPS Officers are always posted to serve anywhere in India. UPSC Board conduct Indian Civil Service Examination once a year in two stages where section I is for Preliminary Examination and Section II exam is Main examination. Details about IPS Officer Examination- Eligibility, Examination pattern are following as :

All those aspirants who wants to participate in this examination should posses a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year pursuing candidates may also apply for preliminary exam

Participants should have completed minimum 21 years of age as on the first January of the year and should not have attained the age of 30 years as on 01-01-YEAR

There are some particular norms of the UPSC board for reserved category candidates in case of relaxation in upper age that are - 3 years for OBCs and 5 years for SC/ST category candidates and this upper age relaxation is only applicable to be added after completing 30 years of age

Essential Notice : All candidates should remember that both papers are necessary to be qualified by the aspirants and if anyone fails to secure minimum qualifying marks (including both papers) then he/she will not be considered eligible to apply for Main Examination

Main Examination of Indian Civil Service

Paper I - Section I covers Essay Writing for 200 marks and Section II covers English comprehension and precis writing for 100 marks. Passing in both sections of this paper is compulsory

Paper II, III, IV & V - All four papers based on General Studies - I, II, III & IV and each of these papers contains 250 marks = 1000 Marks

Personality Test : All participants are required to pass each paper of main exam and must have scored minimum qualifying marks in each paper declared by the board of examination.
