Main Examination of Indian Civil Service
Paper I - Section I covers Essay Writing for 200 marks and Section II covers English comprehension and precis writing for 100 marks. Passing in both sections of this paper is compulsory
Paper II, III, IV & V - All four papers based on General Studies - I, II, III & IV and each of these papers contains 250 marks = 1000 Marks

Personality Test : All participants are required to pass each paper of main exam and must have scored minimum qualifying marks in each paper declared by the board of examination. For getting into the indian police service you need to appear for the exam conducted by upsc, the civil services examination. For giving this examination, you need to be a graduate in any stream from a recognized Indian university and your age should be in between 21-30 years.
A relaxation of 3 and 5 years is given to the obc and the sc/st category respectively.
