Dear Aspirant
See the pattern of civil service examination has changed a lot from this year. The focus has been shifted from optional to aptitude of candiates of desire of doing jobs like civil service examination.Commission has brought a complete chnage in its appraoch. It has focuused more on general studies than the optional paper in main examination.
Previously student have to select two optional paper but now they have to choose only one.The optional paper has been repalced by CSAT(Civil Service Aptitude Test )in Preliminary examination where as Main examination optional paper has been replaced by four papers of general studies asking question from various aspects.
See almost all the papers have same amount of syllabus. However science subjects has less syllabus as compared to arts paper like History,Geography etc.But the levle of questions also differ. It entirely depend upon your choice and interests.Don't select your optional base on low or high syllabus or toppers have selected it.Please select it on you interest and availabilty of study material.
All the subjects will have an equal weight-age in syllabus wise... but the subject you like or whichever is easy for you is the subject you've to select.....If you don't like history, geography then select science or maths which is not lengthy....
