Indian Police Service examination is conducted by the UPSC every year. The eligibility criteria required for the IPS examination is mentioned below:
Education Qualification
Candidate applying for the IPS examination should required a Bachelor�s degree from a recognized university in any one of the subjects Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany,Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics,Statistics and Zoology or A Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering.
AGE LIMIT
Candidate applying for the IPS examination should have age between 21 to 30 years.
How to apply for IPS
You can apply offline or online for the IPS examination.

To apply offline you have to fill the application form
which can be obtained at the Head Post Office.
Exam Pattern -
The Preliminary Examination Shall Now Comprise of Two Compulsory Papers of 200 Marks Each And Of Two Hours Duration Each.
Paper I - (200 marks) Duration - 2 hours
Paper II- (200 marks) Duration - 2 hours

- History of India and Indian National Movement
- Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.
- Indian Polity and Governance � Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
- Economic and Social Development � Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
- General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization
