Is there any way to get a UPSC job directly as Physician And not medical officer? Provide Information in Details?

Hi,
I have finished my MD in General Medicine.I belong to Andaman .
Through the Combined medical exam (CMS)the job that you get is of a medical officer and the eligibility is only MBBS but since I have completed my MD I want to get a UPSC job as Physician.
Is there any way to get a UPSC job directly as Physician And not medical officer, and when is the UPSC exam in 2012 and when is the noyification about to come,Kindly help and Guide me.

If you want to apply UPSC you have to selected as the Medical Officers in different area like Railway, Indian Ordnance Factories Health Service, Central Health Service, New Delhi Municipal Council etc.

You can also apply for SSC for the "General Physician" in Indian Army, Indian Air Force etc.

And If you want to join in Hospital then you can give exam for AIIMS and Tata and other type of Govt. and Private Hospital.

But, I have to suggest you to go to the Medical Officer because of the Reputed Post and good ranks and pay scale.

dear friend you can opt for any of the posts but there is a criteria as that through upsc you have to start as medical officer as that is a very reputed and very good post but if you wish to be a physician than you can opt for the defense services as they recruit the physicians every year so just go for it and allthe very best

dear if you want to get a upsc job then you need to clear the upsc exam without clearing the exam there is no other way to get a upsc job....whenever upsc conducts exam they clearly mentions that what post will you get after clearing the exam so after reading all related details you can then only apply for the upsc exam....

Sorry for you but you can not directly get a job of physician through the UPSC Combined Medical Services Exam.
After qualifying this exam you will not have any benefit of your Master's degree.
As the minimum academic qualification for this Exam is MBBS degree.

But Combined Medical Services Exam is one of the most reputed exams of India and the 'Medical Officer' post which you will get after qualifying is also the topmost post in the respective department; with nice status, good pay and excellent facilities.
So it is always a golden opportunity.
You should also note that your MD in general medicine is definitely going to help you in the Interview round of the Exam.

In upsc, you can choose any post for a physician job but you have to start as a medical officer afterwhich you can be recruited as a physician

As you completed MD not MBBS so you can't apply for UPSC CMS exam.
you can get the the physician jobs in Indian Army and Indian Air Force through SSC(Staff Selection Commission).
