The Drugs and Cosmetics Act of 1945 in India has made it mandatory for the central as well the state governments to have drug inspector. The same act has enthrusted some powers to drug inspector which he need to exercise for the health and safety reasons of general public.
Lets see what is the job of Drug Inspector. He basically has to ensure that all the legal standards set by the central government related to drugs and cosmetics are being met at the places where these items are manufactured, stored or even sold.
To make it simple, drug inspector checks sanitation, purity and grading standards at the places where drugs and cosmetics are manufactured or stored. He has various duties to perform to ensure that these items are safe for human usuage.
Therefore to check whether any banned substance etc are not being used, drug inspector can send the sample for laboratory check and according to the report could take action against the manufacturer if found guilty. Similarly he can check for duplicate drugs at the storage facilities across the state or in India.
Since Drugs and Cosmetics Act of 1945 has made it mandatory to have drug inspector, both states and central government conducts entrance exams. The central level exam for drug inspector is conducted by the UPSC while states PSC is responsible for conducting exams in each states.
Eligibility:
Candidate must be Indian Citizen.
Candidate applying for Drug Inspector exam need to have graduation degree in Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharma), Pharmaceutical Sciences or Medicine
Age Limit:
General - 21 to 33 years
OBC - 21 to 36 years
SC/ST - 21 to 38 years

Paper 1
There are 8 units in Paper 1.

the pattern of the exam is -
there will be two papers of total 250 marks.
first paper will be of Pharmacy-
200 questions of 1 mark each.
second paper will be of General Knowledge-
50 questions of 1 mark each.

Those candidate have completed degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences or Medicine with specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology from a recognized University or equivalent are applicable for Drug Inspector exam.
Your age should be in between 18 to 32 years old.Age relaxation is provide for reserved category .
