Preliminary Examination Pattern :-
Main Examination Pattern :-
(Paper-1) One of the Indian languages
(Paper-2) English
(Paper-3) Essay
(Paper-4 &5 ) General Studies
Paper-6,7,8,9) Any two subjects to be selected from the prescribed optional subjects.
The candidates can apply for this examination in two ways : 1)Online 2)Offline
Candidates may apply online using the website : www.upsconline.nic.in
Application forms are available in various designated head post offices/sub post offices throughout the country.
The examination consist of Preliminary,Main and Interview.
You must have a graduate degree from a recognized university or equivalent qualification.
Your age should be between 21 years and 30 years as on august 1st of the year of examination.
IPS stands for Indian Police Services and this examination is Conducted by UPSC, Twice in a year and to apply for this examination you have to complete your Graduate degree course from a recognised university. Final year appearing candidates are also eligible.
The Notification of Civil services examination will generally published in the employment Newspaper OR in the UPSC Website in the month of February.
Your age should between 21 to 30 years. If you have attained the age of 21 years, then you can apply for civil services examination. But the last date of apply for this examination was already completed. If you have missed the chance in this year, then please prepare for next year examination. If you have already applied for this year examination then please prepare well for the examination as per the pattern and syllabus.
The selection are based on Written test and Personal Interview.
The Written test are comprises into 2 stages :

~~ Main examination
Firstly, you have to cracked the Preliminary examination and there are 2 Objective papers in this examination and if you cracked this exam, then you are eligible for Main examination. In Main examination there are 9 papers and you have to choose the subjects in main examination on the basis of Graduation. The Question Papers III to IX will be set both in Hindi and English.

To become an Indian Police Services(IPS) Officer you will have to Qualify the Civil Services Exam conducted by UPSC.
The syllabus for the exam will depend upon the subjects you choose for the exam. However for the general studies, you should be aware of political ,social ,economic changes and other current affairs; you should also be aware of India's policies , history and geography ; your knowledge in basic sciences and mathematics will also be tested.

IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.This exam is conduct through Civil Service Exam .
Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.
But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.
In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.
The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.
