--The Age should between 21 - 30 yrs of age at the time of Appearing(general category).

--For SC/ST - 35 years.
--For OBC - 33 years.
--For Ex-servicemen it is 5 years from the prescribed limits.

Physical Standard :-

The physical standard required for the IPS exam is given below:

Height:
Minimum height required for men is 165 cm
Minimum height required for women is 150 cm
There is a relaxation in height for SC/ST,OBC,Gorkhas, Garhwalias, Assamese, Kumaonis, Nagaland Tribals etc. candidates for men it is 160cm and for women it is 145 cm.

EXAM PATTERN:-

IPS Examination is conducted by UPSC Every year.

The Examination consist of two parts : 1) Preliminary 2) Main

Preliminary Examination consist of two papers.

Both the papers of objective type and each paper consist of 200 marks.

After completing preliminary Examination.you are qualify for Main Examination.

Main Examination consist of nine papers and you must clear the all the of levels of Civil Service Examination.

Number of attempts:-

General candidates can attempts four times Only.
OBC candidates can attempts seven times Only.
No limit for SC/ST candidates.

IPS stands for Indian Police Service.

UPSC will hold the IPS exam every year.

The minimum eligibility for IPS is you must complete the graduation from any recognized university.

And your age should in between 21-30 years.

Eligibility to apply for IPS exam 2013 :

A bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% marks

Age should not be more than 30 years and less than 21 years and relaxation in age as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/STs and 3 years for OBC category candidates and 10 years for PWDs and 5 years for Ex-Servicemen Candidates

Physical Standards for IPS Officer :

Hight Male : 165 cm and 160 cm for reserved category but only for ST category not for SC and OBCs

Hight Female : 150 cm for general category candidates and 145 cm for ST category candidates

Chest Male : 84 cm with 5 cm expansion during medical test and 79 cm for STs

Chest Female : 79 cm for general and 5 cm expansion

Nasal : Candidate should not stammer while speaking

Eye Sight : 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye and 6/12 or 6/9 distant vision for worst eye.

Female candidate should not be pregnant while the physical or medical test

Exam Pattern is following for IPS exam 2013 :

Preliminary Exam : Objective type paper and two papers would be conducted for 400 marks and qualifying in this exam is necessary then you would be allowed to appear for mains exam.

Mains Examination : Descriptive type paper and contains 9 papers which are conducted for 2000 marks and you are allowed to apply for this exam only after qualifying the preliminary exam.

Interview Process : If you successfully qualify both of the prelims and mains exam then you would be called for interview process which contains 300 marks
