#The fact that you have not studied these subjects in Graduation course does not matter at all.
Dear Applicant,
-Yes !! A BTech student can definitely opt for an ARTS subject for the MAINS EXAM of the CIVIL SERVICES.
You are free to choose any subject, which features in the list of optional subjects, for the MAINS EXAMS.
-From my personal point of view, you have made a very wise decision to opt for the Arts subjects for the mains.
>> These subjects include INDIAN HISTORY,PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION,GEOGRAPHY and POLITICAL SCIENCE.
>> These are highly scoring subjects. They are preferred by all sorts of students, and have even helped in fetching rewards. They have a higher success rate when compared to the other subjects.
>> Added to this, the Paper-I of the Preliminary exams basically constitutes of these subject.Hence, you will be able to prepare for both the prelims and mains simultaneously. Thus saving a lot of time.
-However,the final call is yours. You can choose subjects according to your interest from the LIST OF OPTIONAL SUBJECTS.
-For any further details related to the CIVIL SERVICES Exams, you can visit the official website of the UPSC :: www.upsc.gov.in !!!
ALL THE BEST.
