Every engineering graduate is eligible for IES exam, only thing is they need to apply in the allowed four streams viz.

    >Electrical Engineering

Re: Am I eligible for IES exam being a B.Tech (Agriculture & food engineering) graduate?

    Dear Friend

I think you are asking about your eligibility for the Indian Engineering services .This is the best and most suitable UPSC entrance exam for the engineers to get job in the government departments.

The eligibility criteria for the IES exam is as below:

    >>Any engineering graduate is eligible to apply for the exam irrespective of the stream but one thing is to note that you can only give the exam in the given fours streams of engineering that are :

    1.Civil engineering

    2.Mechanical engineering

    3.Electrical engineering

    4.Electronics and communication engineering

SO you are eligible for the exam being a food engineering graduate .

The next thing is that you should satisfy the age criteria which is :

The general age limit is 21-30 years and three years age relaxation to obc and five years to sc/st respectively.

You must be an Indian citizen.

For general candidates there are only four attempts and for the obc it is seven and for the SC/ST there is no limits.

The important dates for the IES 2013 are already over so you can apply for it the next year in 2014.

For more details ,you can visit www.upsc.gov.in

Hope the information will definitely help you .If you want any more clarification or you have any other query please leave it here.

all the best for your career.
