No my friend you are not eligible for Special Class Railway Apprentices(SCRE) because as per eligibility criteria for SCRA DIPLOMA IN TECHNICAL EDUCATION Form any State Government Technical Education is NOT ACCEPTED for SCRA examination.

Qualification Required for SCRA:

-> Candidate have to pass Class XII exam from any recognized board.

-> Candidate have to study Mathematics,Physics,Chemistry subjects in 10+2.

-> Minimum age of the candidate must be at least 17 years and not more than 21 years. 3 years age relaxation for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

-> Candidate have to either a citizen of India or subject of Nepal or Bhutan.

Date of SCRA Examination:

-> Date of Notification- 5/10/2013.

-> Last date of submission of Application form- 4/11/2013

-> Date of Examination- 12/1/2014.

Qualification-10+2 with mathematics and any one subject between physics and maths with minimum second division
Age Limit-17 to 21 years.

You did diploma in Mechanical Engineering,diploma is very much equivalent to 10+2 qualification.
There is no difference,so there is no confusion regarding your eligibility criteria regarding educational qualification.

Well your qualification is diploma in mechanical engineering so it will be equivalent to the 12th class so you are definitely eligible for the SCRA examination .

Examination pattern for the same as follows-
There will be 2 parts-
Part 1 written examination-600 marks.
Paper 1 general ability test(english, general knowledge and pshycological test 2 hours 200 marks .
Paper 2 physical science .
paper 3 mathematics 200 marks.
Part 2 personality test of 200 marks in respect of only those who are declared qualified on the result of written test.

Diploma holder is not eligible for SCRA exam.

SCRA exam requires 12th class with Physics and math from a recognized board.

Age limit for SCRA exam is 17-21 years.

There is no age relaxation

It is nice that You have done Diploma with Mechanical Engineering.

But you can not apply SCRA exam.

You have to leet exam to do B.tech degree so that you can apply Best UPS civil services exam.

Sorry to say that but you are not eligible for the SCRA examination. Diploma degree is not applicable for this examination.

So that is why " Diploma Holders " are not eligible to appear for the exam
