IFS stands for Indian Forest Services.
The exam is conducted by UPSC once in a year.
Here below I am providing you the eligibility required for IFS exam which will clear your more doubt.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IFS EXAM:-
1. YOu must have Bachelor�s degree with at least one of the subjects namely, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology.
OR
2. You must have a Bachelor�s degree in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering of a recognized university.
3. Also The candidates with these subjects if are in their appearing year can also apply for the exam.
AGE LIMIT:-
GENERAL- 21 TO 30 YRS
OBC- 21 TO 33 YRS
SC/ST- 21 TO 35 YRS
PH- 21 TO 40 YRS
NO. OF ATTEMPTS:-
GENERAL- 4
OBC- 7
SC/ST- UNLIMITED ATTEMPTS
But do not get worry you have many other options which you can switch over into.

There is no IFS exam conducted by UPSC.
One exam is IFoS i.e. Indian Forest Service exam.
Another is Indian Foreign Service which is a service obtained through clearing Civil Service exam of UPSC and getting the highest ranks.
The eligibility for Foreign service is nothing different than the civil service.
One needs to be a Graduate in any discipline from a recognised university. The age limit permitted is 21-30 years for General.Foreign service can be obtained through finest ranks in the Mains result of Civil services.
If you are asking about Forest Service then the eligibility regarding qualifications is The candidate must hold a Bachelor�s degree with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics,Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor�s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering.
The age limit is 21-30 years for General candidates.

Let me discuss about the eligibility criteria for the IFS exam :
1.Academic qualification:
>>Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university .Final year candidates can also apply for the exam.
>>You must have studied any of the following subjects in you bachelor's degree in order to be eligible for the IFS exam:

So if you like to apply for the civil services examination then you need to have graduation in animal husbandry, vaterinary science,botany,physics,chemistry ,science,statistics and zoology or a bachelor degree in agriculture or forestry or engineering of a recognised university or equivalent examination.
Examination pattern for the Indian forest services-
Written test-
Conventional essay type
Part 1 will be general english for 300 marks.
Part 2 will be general knowledge 300 marks.
Part 3 ,4,5,6 any two subjects to be selected from the list of optional subjects set out .
Each subjects will have two papers and each of them have 200 marks.
Total aggregate marks will be 1400.
