IFS(Indian Foreign Services) is a central service.
*It deals with country's external affairs including Trade,cultural and diplomacy relations.
*It is responsible for the Administration and Activities of Indian Mission Board for framing and implementing Government Foreign policy.
*An IFS officer can be posted in 160 odd Ambassies and Mission Board.
*They can also deputed to Institutions like UNESCO,World Bank,SAARC,United Nations etc and they can be posted in various parts of country as passport officers.
HOW TO APPROACH:
*First you have to apply for UPSC civil services Examination
*If you qualified in 1st exam Preliminary,you will be given Mains Application Form by UPSC.
*In Mains Application you have to Give SERVICE preference(IAS>IPS>IFS>IRS)depends on your interest.
*After getting good score in Mains,you will be called for Interview,finally your Mains+Interview Marks are combined and a MERIT LIST is prepared.
SERVICE DEPENDING ON 4 FACTORS:
1.Your preference in the Mains form.
2.your Merit number(+RESERVATION if applicable)
3.The vacancies in the Given Service.
4.Medical Checkup.

PAY SCALE:
pay band will be around 25000....and it increases based on your experince.
