Of course why not, A local politician may have it's influence in the government but if the government changes who remain there the Administrator. Or an IAS officer is doing its duty and not using bad practice so he will be always powerful.
In matter of power given by law i.e. authority

Politician can introduce a law in there respective legislative but it is they all member of that legislature will accept it or decline it. On the other hand IAS officer puts input in already framed law or we can say it make sub law, that are imperative for execution of that bill.

IAS officer would be in her/his post until the wishes of president on the other hand local politician wud be dere untill or unless any thing against comes to him..

I want to tell you that IAS is the highest Civil service post in India.

IAS officer has more power than other officers because he is the adminuistrator.

Politicials has power only when they are in the parliament whereas IAS officer has power with his duty.

So IAS officer has more power than an ordinary politician.

Of course friend IAS officer have really power than local politician.

An IAS officer is a representative of Government while politician is a representative of public.

An IAS officer has so much power than any local politician. IAS officer has administrative power.

Politician conducts very work with the support of IAS and IPS.

But in some cases we see that politician is dominated an IAS officer because of corrupted politics.

That�s why you have doubt on the power of IAS. But my friend IAS officer really has so many powers.

As the IAS Post is the highest post of a district and he have the

Full power to take decision and take a strict action

And surely have more power than the local politicians

But one thing that the higher politicians also take advantage

Of them and use their power to do illegal activities

As you know in India the officer's are bound to work according

To the politicians like Ramlila Ground incident in New Delhi Last year

But In True sense a IAS Officer have all the power to control a district
