This is golden time to prepare for UPSC EXAMS during your BDS. First, you download the required syllabus for the particular exam and collect study material accordingly. It will be better you choose your text books for the study material and for GK you read regularly Newspapers and watch TV news channels. More over, Subject combination is also important, so be careful at the time selection of subject combination.

There are two types of written examination in UPSC.
UPSC Prelim exam and UPSC Mains exam. You will appear in UPSC Prelim exam first in which Objective type Questions are asked from General English, General Studies etc.
For UPSC Mains you have to choose Subjects. There are total 51 Optional Subjects in which 23 are from main subjects and 28 Language Subjects like Hindi, English, Bengali etc.
The Preliminary Examination will consist of two papers of Objective type (multiple choice questions) and carry a maximum of 400 marks
The Main Examination will consist of a written examination and an Interview Test. The written examination will consist of 9 papers of conventional essay type.

History of India and Indian National Movement
Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World
Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc
Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization
For mains exam you have to choose the subjects.
