    How to prepare for UPSC examination on my own? How to schedule my time table? Mention few helpful books for public administration and History subjects?

    I am novice to develop myself for cracking this examination, kindly give me relevent guidance i.e,

    1. How can I prepare myself for it?
    2. How should I arrange my time table for it?
    3. Which Books can help me in subject like Public Administration and History?

    To prepare yourself you need to do first is gather material for reading

    => Collect books of 9 to 12th standard(Sociology, History, Geography, Indian Constitution, English)

    Daily Reading of Newspaper like The Hindu is important.

    Regular Reading of Magazine like Chronicle is Must Required.

    Daily watching of news in English on Tv to improve your vocabulary.

    ==> To arrange time table

    1) Daily Morning 1 hour reading

    2) 1 hour solving paper

    3) 1 hour watching news on Tv

    4) 1 hour reading of any novel to improve your English.

    Dear Aspirant
    Please understand the pattern of examination first.It is divided into three phase.I am outlining in brief here seeing your passions for IAS examination
    Preliminary Examination consists of two papers of MCQ types
    Paper 1 deals with General Studies
    Paper 2 deals with English comprehension,logical reasoning and aptitude
    Main Examination consists of seven papers all conventional types
    Paper 1 consists of Essay and English comprehension and precise writing.
    Paper 2-paper 5 is on GS which consits of history,geography,economy,Indian Polity etc
    Paper 6 & 7 Optional Paper you have to select fro 25 optinal given by UPSC
    Final Stage is Interview stage

    Start preparing for prelims by reading newspapers The Hindu,Solve aptitude questions and DI question from RS Agarwala aptitude book.
    Reading newspapers will keep you updated about current affairs and you may buy any sample papers for English of tenth level for solving comprehension

    Public Adminstration book by M.Laxmikant (TMH publications)
    Administrative Thinkers by Prasad and Prasad
    New Horizons of Public Administration BY M.Bhattacharya
    For History
    Read NCERT class 11th and 12th books
    Modern India by Bipin Chandra
    Medieval India by Satish Chandra
