As being a female candidate if you want to join defence services through UPSC then you are eligible for CDS exam only because in NDA exam girls are not eligible.

CDS means Combined defense services. this exam is conduct by UPSC twice in a year.

Eligibility Criteria For CDS is

There are minimum educational qualification is Graduate any stream from any recognized university.
final year candidate are also eligible for this exam
for airforce and navy maths and physics subject in graduation is important

Age Limit

For Indian Military Academic candidate should be 19 to 24 year
For Officer Training Academy candidate should be 19 to 25 year
For Naval candidate should be 19 to 22 year
For Indian air force candidate should be 19 to 23 year.

Females can apply for CDS Exam to join Defence Services. CDS stands for Combined Defence Services.
CDS Exam is conducted by UPSC twice a year for the recruitment of candidates in the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Naval Academy (NA), Air Force Academy (AFA), Officers Training Academy (OTA).
You have to satisfy the basic eligibility criteria to appear for CDS Exam.

The eligibility criteria for CDS Exam are as follows:
Nationality:
The candidate must be Indian.

Age Limit: Candidates (Unmarried) of age between
(i) For IMA: 19-24 years.
(ii) For Indian Naval Academy: 19-22 years.
(iii) For Air Force Academy: 19-23 years.
(iv) For OTA: Male candidates (married or unmarried) of age between 19-25 years.
(v) For OTA: Unmarried Women of age between 19-24 years.

Educational Qualification:
(i) For I.M.A. and OTA: Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.
(ii) For Indian Naval Academy: Degree in Engineering.
(iii) For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
Final year students can also apply.

Girls can also apply for some posts which are reserved for females.First of all, girls candidate have to be graduated in order to be eligible for CDS Examination. As girls candidates are strictly prohibited to apply for NDA Examination.For CDS Examination, girls required to be graduated, unmarried, Indian, physically fit. Age should be 19-25 years.Girls can also apply to Short Service Commission special entry scheme. Here also required to have graduation degree. Age limit must be 19-25 years. The entry of the girls is not that easy as that of boys in the armed forces of our country.But there are few chances through which you can get the entry.

The first one is the CDSE-Combined Defense Service Examination-a entrance exam-There are four entries
IMA-Indian Military Academy-only for male.
OTA-Officers Training Academy-both for male and female.
AFA-Air F toorce Academy-only for male.
NA-Naval Academy-only for male.

The OTA will be entry in to the ARMY wing.
The qualification required is graduation from any stream.
Age limit-19 to 25 years(at the time of commencement of the course).

Other than these you are eligible for applying in the AFCAT-Air Force Common Admission Test-a entrance exam- a entry for the air force.
