    THe exam pattern for UPSC is below :
    It consist three parts .
    1.preliminary exam .
    In this exam there are two papers .
    1) General study
    2) Optional Subject

    After this selected candidates will appear for Main Exam .

    Main Exam include 9 descriptive type papers .

    1-Any language defined in constitution of India
    2-english
    3-essay
    4-general study
    5-general study
    6-optional subject-1
    7-optional subject-1
    8-optional subject-2
    9-optional subject-2

    In this papers first two is optional paper means its marks are not considered but one have to get minimum marks in that paper also otherwise one will be failed in the main exam .

    The other seven papers are compulsory and its marks are considered in the final merit list .

    After the selected candidate will go for an interview .

    The final merit list will be made based on the marks secured in main exam plus interview together .

    Optional Subjects for the Main Examination:

    Optional subjects: Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Civil

    Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Geology,

    History, Law, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy,

    Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology,

    Statistics, Zoology. Each paper is of 3 hours duration.

    Literatures:

    Arabic, Assamese, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri,

    Konkani, Marathi, Malayalam, Manipuri, Nepali, Oriya, Pali, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Sindhi,

    Interview:

    At interview stage, two-fold vacancies are called to appear before the UPSC Board. Interview carries

    300 marks. Interview calls are sent on the basis of minimum marks fixed by the UPSC at its

    discretion. The overall ranking is done based on the Mains performance (i.e., 2000 marks) and

    interview. Therefore, the total marks involved in the ranking are 2300. Candidates are allotted various

    services keeping in view their ranks in the examination and preferences given by them in their

    mainapplication form.

    The written examination will consist of the following papers :
    Paper I (One of the Indian languages to be selected by the candidate from the Languages included in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution) 300 marks
    Paper II English 300 marks
    Paper III Essay 200 marks
    Papers IV General Studies 300 marks
    and V for each paper
    Papers VI Any two subjects to be selected from the list of the optional subjects 300 marks(per each paper)

    The list of optional subjects for IAS examinations are as follows:




    MAIN subjects are as below:

    PAPER I

    AND PAPER II.

    UPSC stands for union public servcie commission.

    MAIN examination is conducted after you qualify for the prelimianry examination.

    It is the most tough phase of the upsc exams .after which you need to appear for the personal interview.

    1)Preliminary Exam
    2)Mains Examination
    3)Interview Test

    Preliminary examination consists of
    Paper 1 200 marks Duration 2hrs of MCQ types questions

    Paper I of preliminary examination consists of following syllabus
