    hi,
You are eligible for IES as well as GATE exam.

IES exam stands for Indian engineering service and Gate exam stands for graduate test aptitude test in engineering.

Both exam have good bright future.

Gate exam is conducted to join M.tech course as well as fellowship.

Through GATE exam you can do M.tech with IIT course.

On the other hand, IES exam is conducted by UPSC to become Engineering officer.

This is civil services exam which is applicable for only;-civil engineering, mechanical engineer, electrical engineering, ECE branch Engineer

It depend on your choice what you choose.

Best of luck for upcoming future

IES and GATE are two different exams.

IES or Indian Engineering Services exams are conducted by UPSC to fill seats in various Government departments and ministries each year
Total seats in the IES exams are around 700 to 800 each year

GATE exams are conducted by IIT each year.

GATE scores which is valid for two years are used for admissions to Post Graduate programmes like MTECH or ME
But the most Important advantage of having the GATE scores is that you can apply to PSU companies for jobs with the GATE scores.
Most of the PSU comoanies have stopped taking their own written tests and they just shortlist candidates based on the GATE scores.

So, i would suggest that you should prepare for both the exams.

Minimum educational qualifications required to apply for both these exams is BE/BTECH pass

In the UPSC IES exams to apply age of the candidates should be between 21 and 30 years

Both these exams are conducted just once each year

Next GATE exams would be held in January 2014

Next IES exams would be held from 28th June 2013
