i did m.com n m cnfusd abt which subjcts i shd tk in upsc mains.as a commerce student m familiar with its sylbs bt m afraid frm practical ques. which contains 50% of marks in paper 1.plz suggest me is it safe to tk commerce & accountancy.or i should move to sm other subjcts like sociologyo, public admn..

Yes , You can take commerce and accountancy as your optional subjects for UPSC Mains Examination.

But You must be sure that you are confident about the subject.

The safety of the subject depends upon the knowledge you have about the subject.

If you think that inspite of commerce student , you can do extrememly good in sociology and public administration then go for it.

but if you are not sure then in that case you should thorough your knowledge in any of the known subjects.

This is what main concern is ... and never forget , you will not be a master in an overnight.

So you need to work hard and you will have to be extremely good in whatever you are choosing ,

Hi Aspirant,

Friend as you mentioned that you are commerce graduate, then you would be well aware from Commerce and Accountancy subject, so you should choose this subject as optional subject.

This subject will be helpful to crack Civil service exam.

On the place of one other subject you choose economics because it is related from commerce up to some extent.

So don�t think to take risk for Civil Service exam because its exam pattern is very tough and you should choose only those subjects where you are interested and well familiar.
