Is it accepted to choose commerce & accountancy and Economics being a commerce graduate?

Hi,

At the Time of Registration of UPSC Preliminary exam 2012 I was selected Main Subject 1.Commerce and Accountancy 2.Economics.I am a commerce Graduate..Could you tell me This is accepted or Not..?

Of-course you can do the preparation for IAS/IPS examination. If you want to take commerce in UPSC Mains exam then you can take.

But I suggest you to take Arts Subjects like History, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy etc. If you have good writing skills then you can absolutely Crack the Exam.

After that you have to go for the Question Pattern of Exam so you should download and print Previous Years Question Papers from www.upsc.gov.in

yes,it is acceptable because UPSC doesn't restrict any aspirants from opting out of the list of 25 main subjects but their is certain restrriction of combination of subjects like you can't opt. sociology & public administration, chemical engineering along that chemistry etc but your subjects are among NO bar ,so you can comfortably opt. them & go for the examination preparation without wasting anymore time.

As their is no limitation from the upsc to choose these subjects

And their is no restriction also from the upsc side and you can go with these subjects

With out any problem

And also the combination that you have choose is actually very nice

As you are a commerce student so you have studied accounts and economics

At both level In 12th as well as in your graduation

And this would be a positive point for you also

So start working hard on these subjects

As specially Accountancy needs a lot of practice
