If you have B.tech degree then you can appear in IES exam i.e. Engineering Services Examination. There are four category of the examination, you should tell us about the branch in which you are doing or completed the B.tech degree after that you can fill up the form for IES. The four categories are:
Category I�Civil Engineering.

First of all you have to fill up online form from UPSC official website www.upsc.gov.in
You are required to pay a fee of Rs. 100/- (not for ST/SC candidates)
You have to scan a photo of yours in .jpg image which is between 3 kb to 40 kb and 1 kb for signature which is also scan.
You can pay the payment through SBI challan or by Debit card/visa card.
The Online applications(Part I and II) can be filled from 10th March, 2012 to 9th
April, 2012 till 11.59 p.m., after which link will be disabled.

How to apply:-
--Candidates can purchase the application forms from the designated post office. The amount to be paid is Rs 50/-.
--Next step is to send the filled application from along with the acknowledgment card to the officer in charge.
How to fill the Form:-
--Candidates should buy the application form only from a post office. They should clearly fill in all the required columns.
--The 8 digit bar code number should be noted down separately by the candidate for future reference.
--They should not use a photo copy of the form, it will not be accepted.

Step by Step procedure :
1st Stage in IAS Exam Pattern(CSAT)::
Preliminary or simply CSAT is the first tier within the 3 stage IAS exam.
It's usually conducted around 2nd or third Sunday each May in which around 1.5 lac IAS aspirants appear for the Preliminary.
The Prelims includes 2 papers of two hundred scores equally common to all applicants.
Paper 1 consists the Questions on:

Complete Procedure for UPSC exams is following as :
1. Online Application : UPSC Release the notification for various exams and invites online applications for various posts and online application system is available at - www.upsc.gov.in
2. Issuing of Admit Card/Hall Ticket/Roll No. For exam : After sometimes of application and before about 2 weeks of the exam UPSC board provides admit Cards for exam and admit cards also would be available at the above mentioned website.
3. Preliminary Exam : You will get the admit cards for prelims exam and you will have to appear for objective type prelims exam and qualify this exam if you want to appear for mains exam.
4. Mains Examination : After qualifying prelims exam you will have to apply for mains exam and this is a descriptive type exam which is most compulsory to qualify for interview process and you have to choose any two subjects in this exam for mains then qualify all 7 papers then you will be eligible to get interview call.
