You can apply for NDA being a 12th class student

For NdA candidate must be 12th pass from any recognized Board

Age should be between 16.5 to 19 years

Should be unmarried

If you are above 19 years and join Indian Army then you must complete your Graduation

After Graduation you can apply for CDS (Combined Defence Service) exam

So all the first you should complete your Graduation

Yes there are several ways. You can apply for NDA & NA Examination.
NDA & NA Exam is conducted by UPSC twice a year for the recruitment of candidates in the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force wings of NDA.

The eligibility criteria for NDA & NA Examination are as follows:
Age Limit
The candidate should be of the age in between 16.5 to 19 years.

Marital Status
The candidate should be unmarried.

Nationality
The candidate should be Indian.

Educational Qualification
For Army: 12th appearing or 12th class pass of 10+2 of school education pattern or equivalent examination conducted by State Education Board or University.
For Air Force, Navy & Naval Academy: 12th appearing or 12th class pass of 10+2 of school education pattern or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by State Education Board or University.

After graduation you can apply for CDS Examination.
CDS stands for Combined Defence Services Examination it is also conducted by UPSC for the recruitment of candidates in Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Officers Training Academy.

NDA stands for National Defence Academy which is located in Pune,Maharastra.
UPSC conducts the NDA & NA Exams for all aspiring candidates.

If you complete the +2 with science subject then you are eligible for the exam.
The age limit for the exam is the 16.5 years to 19 years.
Only unmarried male candidate is eligible for the exam, females are allowed for this exam.

UPSC NDA & NA exam : UPSC board conduct this exam and it is for 3 departments :

Indian Army : Candidate must have passed in class 12th in any discipline from a recognized board and if the candidate is appearing for 12th exams or awaited for result of class 12th then also he may apply for this exam

Age of the candidate should not be less than 16.5 years and more than 19 years and there is no relaxation in upper age would be provided to any category candidates

Examination Pattern for NDA exam 2013 : There are following two papers conducted in NDA exam :

1. Mathematics - Objective type and has maximum 300 marks

2. General Ability Test - General English and General Knowledge - Objective type and has only 600 marks maximum in which the english part is for 200 marks and General Knowledge part is for 400 marks

Interview Process : It has two steps - Psychological test and Intelligence Test and all those candidates who qualify the written examination would be called for these tests and if you qualify these steps too then you would be appointed finally for Indian Army

The only way to join army after 10+2 is NDA.

NDA -National Defense Academy-a entrance is conducted for admission in this academy and it is named as NDA and the candidates are sent to the respective wings for which they applied in the NDA.Through NDA,you can apply for all the three wings of the defense altogether.

The qualification required is (for applying in the army wing) is 10+2 with any stream(any between arts,commerce and science).
Age limit is-16.5 to 19 years(at the time of commencement of the course).


The NDA is conducted twice in a year and the notifications are released in the month of the May and December in the official website of UPSC(the body which conducts
the NDA) and in the employment news paper.
