Subjects that are asked in the paper of ICS Preliminary Exam - General Studies

>> History of India and Indian National Movement

>> Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and World

>> Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights, Issues etc.

>> Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives etc.

>> General Issues on Environmental Ecology - Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require specialization of the subject

>> General Science and Technology

These above listed topics are same at present also means there is no change made in these above mentioned topics and will be exactly as the same as for preliminary exam - GS paper I - 2013

Last year UPSC board conducted two papers of General Studies that was based on following topics :

Paper I - It was covering following major subjects :

>> History of Modern India and Indian Culture
>> Geography of India
>> Constitution of India and Indian Polity
>> Current National Issues and Topics of Social Relevance

Paper II - Following topics was covered by this paper :

>> India and the World
>> India's Economic Interaction With the World
>> Developments in the Field of Science & Technology, IT and Space
>> International Affairs and Institutions
>> Statistical Analysis, Graphs and Diagrams

But there are some changes made in new examination because these two papers converted in four conventional type papers in main examination and some of the topics has been enhanced and also added in these papers but most of the part are not changed

There will be four papers conducted over General Studies subject in main examination of UPSC ICS and all four papers will be of conventional type pattern

General Studies I - Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society

General Studies II - Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International Relations

General Studies III - Technology, Economic Development, Bio-Diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management

General Studies IV - Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude
