Vacancy for the economis services is not much. for example in the year 2011 the vacancy was 19 as per the notification dated on 30.7.2011.
the approximate
number of vacancies in Grade IV of the
Services are :-(i) Indian Economic Service - 19

The notification for this year's exam comes out on 17th of august and you will have one month to fill the application.
The examination will be held on 9.11.2013.
do check the employment newspaper on saturday for detailed notification. you have to fill the form online in the commission's website itself.

IES stands for the Indian Economic services and ISS stands for the Indian Statistical Services .The entrance examination for both the services is same and is conducted by the UPSC.
Eligibility criteria for the exam:
IES:Post graduate degree in applied economics or economics or business economics or econometrics.
ISS:Post graduate degree in statistics or applied or mathematical statistics from a recognized university.
Final year candidates can also apply for the exam.
The age limit is 21-30 years with three years age relaxation to obc and five year to sc/st respectively.
Average number of vacancies every year:
It is around 60 posts every year for both the statistical and economic services.
For example : In 2012-2013
No of posts for IES :31 posts
No of posts for ISS:29 posts.
Selection is done through written test and personal interview.

the approximate vacancies for IES(Indian Economics Services) exam is 31. which is very small. Reservation also made on the basis of Physically handicapped, Blind or category wise. The number of vacancies mentioned above is liable to alteration.Reservation will be given effect to as per policy of the Government.
For IES you must have obtained a Postgraduate degree in Economics/Applied
Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from recognized college or university.
your age should be within 21 years to 30 years. there is relaxation for OBC upto 3 years and SC/St upto 5 years in upper age limit.
