UPSC conducts Special class Railway apprentice exam in the month of january every year for Higher secondary Qualified candidates. The exam is of 2 stages- written exam followed by Interview.
Scheme of exam:
All 3 papers are objective type questions and the exam is conducted on same day for the three papers
Subject Duration Paper I General ability test 2 hours Paper II Physical Science 2 hours Paper III Mathematics 2 hours
For written qualified candidates, Interview will be conducted

The duration of the Scra exam is the 6 hrs.in the scra exam three paper is held, one is the General Mental ability.
Second is the Science (Physics chemistry),
Third is the Mathematics.
The duration of the three paper is the 2-2 hrs . total time of the exam 6hrs and held in the one day.
The qualification is required for the Scra exam candidate passed the +2 class with science subject from the recognized board.
The age limit for the exam is 17 to 21 years.

The UPSC SCRA Examination is divided in to 2 parts.
Part 1:
There will be 3 papers in Part 1 of UPSC SCRA Written Examination.
Paper I - General Ability Test - 200 Marks - 2 Hours.
Paper II - Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry) - 200 Marks - 2 Hours.
Paper III - Mathematics - 200 Marks - 2 Hours.
Total Marks : 600
"Note: THERE WILL BE PENALTY (NEGATIVE MARKING) FOR WRONG ANSWERS
MARKED BY A CANDIDATE IN THE OBJECTIVE TYPE QUESTION PAPERS.
(i) There are four alternatives for the answer to every question. For each question for
which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one third (0.33) of the
marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.
(ii) If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer
even if one of the given answer happens to be correct and there will be same
penalty as above for that question.
(iii) If a question is left blank i.e. no answer is given by the candidate, there will be no
penalty for that question
Part 2:
Personality Test - Maximum 200 Marks.
part 2 will be conducted only if a candidate is selected in part 1 written examination.
