UPSC conducts the SCRA exam to make recruitment to the Mechanical Department of the Indian Railways.
SCRA exam notification was advertised on 13.10.2012 and last date of applications is 12.11.2012.
SCRA will be held on 20.01.2013.
SCRA exam is consists of two parts :
Part I-Writteen exams of total 600 marks

SCRA exam is organized at Intermediate level in whole India.

UPSC released the notification for SCRA exam on 13/10/2012 and last date of application form is 12/10/2012. While exam will be held on 20/1/2013.

Details about UPSC SCRA Exam 2013 :
SCRA stands for Special Class Railway Apprentices which is conducted by the UPSC board to find out eligible and deserving candidates in railway sector for apprentice work under the central government of India
You must have passed in class 12th with mathematics and physics as a compulsory subject and any one of the - Biology/Chemistry/Computer Science from a recognized board to apply for this exam
Your age should not be less than 17 years and more than 21 year and relaxation in upper age as 5 year for SC/ST category candidates and 3 years for OBC category candidates in SCRA exam
Examination Pattern for UPSC SCRA Exam 2013 : There would be following subjects in this exam :

SCRA examination 2013 for selection of candidates for appointment as Special Class Railway Apprentices in Mechanical
Department of Indian Railways is held by the Union Public Service Commission in accordance with the rules published by the
Ministry of Railways ( Railways Board ).
Age limit:
17-21 years on 1st August of the year of examination.
Educational Qualification:
Must have passed in the first or second division, the Intermediate or an equivalent examination of a recognised university

SCRA-stands for the Special Class Railway Apprentice-the exam is conducted by the UPSC ,for the admission in to the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering for studying the Mechanical engineering,after which these candidates are appointed in the Indian Railways in the high post.
The process of selection is very rigorous and is done by the UPSC.
In order to apply for the SCRA,the candidates must have done their 10+2 with mathematics and any one subject between physics and chemistry with second division.
The age limit is -17 to 21 years.
