Defence services are related to Army and Indian Police Services are related to Police..
If you want to go for defence services then you can go for CDS and if you want to join IPS then you need to go for UPSC civil services ..
The eligibility for CDS is:
#You have passed graduation from recognized university.
#Age limit 19-25 yrs..
The eligibility for Civil services is:
*Have done graduation from recognized university.
*Age limit 21-30 yrs..

Defence services means that the Indian forces i.e.
1.Indian Army
2.Indian Air Force
3.Indian Navy
These are the three wings of the defence services .
You can join these service through CDS exam.
for CDS exam you must have a bachelor degree from a recognized university of India and your age must lies in between 19-23 years.
On the other hand IPS stands for Indian Police Service.
This exam is conducted for the joining of Police services.
You can apply for the exam if you have bachelor degree and your age lies in between 21-30 years.

Civil services are of the central government recruitment and these are as follows:
1)indian police services
2)indian administrative services

so any one willing to go for defence sector one has to apear for NDA exam
