IES(Indian Economics Services )exam is conducted by UPSC for recruitment officers in planning commission,ministry of economic affairs.
The examination pattern consists of two stages Written examination consisting of 1000 marks and final interview of 200 marks
The written examination consists of following papers each of 3 hours duration
General English-100 marks
General Studies-100 marks
General Economics-I-200 marks
General Economics-II-200 marks
General Economics-III-200 marks
Indian Economics-200 marks

Examination will be held on November 9,2013 and date of notification for examination is August 17,2013

These all papers will be conducted in conventional type pattern and qualifying in each paper is mandatory by scoring minimum qualifying marks and all papers will be set in english only and all questions will be in conventional type pattern where candidates have to write answers of each question in their own words and hand
General English : Candidates will be required to write an essay in English. Other questions will be designed to test their understanding of english and workmanlike use of words. Passages will be usually be set for summary and precis
