    What is the Scope of Engineers in UPSC exams? Is Engineering degree helpful in UPSC exam?

    what is the scope for engineers in UPSC ? i want to know this fact as i am a b.tech student and want to make a career in upsc department . I also want to know whether my engineering degree will help in upsc or not .

    There are lots of scopes of Engineers in U.P.S.C examinations.
    some of the exams are:-
    1. Engineering Services Examination.

    This examination is conducted by U.P.S.C every year.
    There are four categories in this exam.
    i) Civil Engineering
    ii) Electrical Engineering
    iii) Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering
    iv) Mechanical Engineering

    2. Combined Defense Services:-


    This examination is conducted by UPSC twice year.
    Through this exam you can get defense jobs.

    There are four wings of CDS
    i) Indian Air Force
    ii) Indian Army
    iii) Indian Navy
    iv) Officers wing

    There is lot of scope for engineering graduate in upsc. You can sit for ies (indian engineering services) examination which is under upsc. Or you can also apply for civil services.

    Though ies is only for civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics and communication branches

    any professional technical degree is your treasure ,you can go for ies exam ,you can also appear for civil services exam both are conducted by upsc, in civil services you can opt your parent b.tech subjects or you can also opt for humanities depends on your comfort level and intrest.

    engineer are eligible for allmost all exams conducted by upsc which you can check on www.upsc.gov.in
    with this there is also a special exam held by upsc only for engineer is IES
    some other exams for which an engineer can apply are
    CDS
    civil service exam
    cpf
    other than upsc an engineer can also for the exams conducted by SSC

    if u r doing B.Tech in ELEC or CIVIL or MECH or ELECTRONICS TELECOMMUNICATION u can apply for UPSC IES exam.

    a bachelor's degree is needed to apply for any of the UPSC exam.

    Being an engineer u can apply for the IES exam. Which is conducted for filling up the top most engineering posts in the public sector companies. There is no restriction on the subject that u have.
    But u need to be above 21 and below 30 years of age in order to apply for IES.

    Civil Services Examination
    Combined Defense Services Examination (CDS)
    Combined Engineering Services Examination (CESE)
    Combined Medical Services Examination (CMS)
    Geologist's Examination
    Indian Administrative Services Examination (IAS)
    Indian Economics Services/Indian Statistical Services Exam (IES/ISS)
    Indian Forest Services Examination (IFS)
    National Defense Academy and Naval Academy Examination (NDA/NA)
    SO/Steno (Gd B/Gd-I) Ltd Dept t Competitive Examination
    Special Class Railway Apprentice Exam

    If you are an Engineer in Mechanical/Civil/EC/EE then only you are eligible for Engineering Services Exam, else you are eligible for all other exams except the latter one.

    YES,there is scopes specially for the engineering graduates specially for their descpline as

    INDIAN ENGINEERING services exam specially conducted for engineering graduates only
    Engineering Services Examination.

    There are four categories in this exam of which you can choose any one descpline for the mode to give examination.
    i) Civil Engineering
    ii) Electrical Engineering

    there is a huge scope for engineers also in UPSC . they can apply for any of the graduation based upsc exam like CDS,IAS,IFS,CPF.etc along withe this they can apply for engineering services exam held by upsc every year for the engineering applicants . also through CDS they can get jobs in the defense departments like Indian army ,Indian air force, Indian navy.also there is no percentage bar for upsc applicants so there is nothing to worry about percentage .which indeed removes the burden away from the upsc applicants .through civil services exam under upsc you can become an IAS or an IPS or an IES officer which is also a thing of greatness indeed .

    Hi Aspirant,

    It is good scope of Engineer in UPSC exam.

    You can make a bright future through UPSC IES exam.

    There is attractive salary and lot of chances of promotion

    After cracking IES exam you will be appointed as follows and promoted orderwise:

    1. At the joining Assistant Executive Engineer.


    2. After that Executive Engineer


    3. And then Executive Engineer (junior administrative grade)


    4. After that Chief Engineer level-2 (equivalent to Director to Government of India).

    Yes engineering has a huge role in UPSC exams as for some of the exams only engineers are allowed to take..........
    The student of under given branches can only appear for the IES exam......
    i) Civil Engineering
    ii) Electrical Engineering
    iii) Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering
    iv) Mechanical Engineering

    And students who have completed their B.tech can also apply for the CDS exam also i,e. Combined Defence Services.......
