Can I apply for UPSC exams being a computer science engineering student? What is the syllabus for CSE graduates?

Hello sir/madam,

Sir. I am studing in computer engineer 3rd year,
I want to know whether I can apply for UPSC exams?
As every where it is mentioned about the civil, mechanical,electrical n EXTC engineers...
Then what about CE engineers?
n IF we can apply Then do tell me the syllabus and procedure of applying.

Dear, Don't Panic, Of-course you can apply for any Exam of UPSC after completions of your BE / B.Tech. Whether it belongs to Civil Services or IFS or IES or CDS. There are unlimited opportunities for Computer Science Graduates. But as a Computer Science Student don't give up Mathematics as your another subject which will help you in the time of preparation of Optional Subjects of UPSC Exams. So, go ahead....Good Luck..

The criteria for the exam .
-->one should done their graduation or in the final year of graduation from any recognized university.
-->age limit for the general cast is between 21-30 , 3 years relaxion for obc , 5 years relaxion for sc/st/ex-serviceman/physically handicapped.

The Exam consists three parts :
1) preliminary exam
2) main exam
3) interview
The final selection based on the marks available in the main exam plus interview .
Preliminary exam consist two papers and one should pass this exam for qualifying for the next round .
Main exam consists 9 descriptive type paper
1-Any language
2-english
3-essay
4&5-general study
6&7-optional subject-1
8&9-optional subject-2
The first two papers marks are not considered but one should pass this two paper compulsory .

There are many examinations conducted by UPSC. Some of the exams like CDS,Civil services,CPF just require graduation. You can very well apply for these exams but you will be missing one exam named as Engineering Services Examination which requires engineers from Civil,Mechanical,Electronics and Electrical.

Dear pal,

• Indian Administrative service exam is conducted for admission of engineers for various engineering discipline available over there in central government.

• The recruitment of engineers is under the discipline namely civil, mechanical, electrical, Electronics and telecommunication.

• Exams are conducted under the above disciplines. The syllabus for the preparation includes those subjects which the aspirant with above degree has studied during their bachelor degree.

• Aspirant with masters degree in physics, mathematics, radio communication, etc can also apply for the service exam.

• The age criteria for the IAS, IPS holds good for IES too , a minimum of 21 years is required to attempt the exam and one can make attempt till they complete 30 years of age.

• Being a computer engineer the exam do not suite you. You can apply for jobs in few public sector companies. A very large number jobs are available for you in private companies and you can make use of it. Companies that recruit you are TCS, CTS, microsoft, Infosis etc.

Hiii friend....in your question you did not mention about which year you are studying no problem....but UPSC requires only graduates with any aggregate from any university in any stream there is nothing to worry about it ....and if you come from any stream the syllabus for UPSC exam is same because they have give equal preferences so that you can apply for it ....and also if you are in final year of your course then also you can eligible for UPSC any way all the best ...

yes my dear friend you can apply for UPSC exams except IES.

Only specified branches are allowed to take part in IES examination such as

1. Civil Engineering
2. Mechanical Engineering
3. Electrical and Electronics Engineering
4. Electronics and Communication Engineering
