Dear there are some ways to prepare for IPS examination which are - Coaching Institute, Personal Study at home by using some good books or take guidance in personal study from any successful candidates and practice in any good institute so if you wants to study at your home then also I would suggest you to take practice test series in any reputed coaching institute because practice is necessary for all candidates

Books are enough but you should make a schedule to prepare for examination because that is necessary and somewhere you will have to study in English medium because some of the books which are highly useful in preparation are only available in English Medium i.e. - TATA Mc Graw Hill for CSAT so you should try to make good command over english language also because this language is most necessary for all civil service aspirants and if you do not have good knowledge of english then you may get failed in personality test so dear please improve your english
IPS Examination will take about 9 months to be conducted again (preliminary) so this is right time because enough time is available and if you utilize then you can easily pass prelims exam and after that you will get more than 3 months to prepare for main examination that will be better for you and that time will be for coaching institute because conventional papers demands hardcore preparation of writing and knowledge so you have to cover everything from all parts to pass exam
