First of all to become an IPS officer you have to apply for Civil Services Exam that is conducted by UPSC every year.

you can't apply for Civil Services Exam after completing 12th. For appearing in Civil Services exam you have to complete graduation in any discipline from recognized college or university with any percentage.

for appearing in exam you have to fulfill some other requirement like:

>>you must have completed or appearing in final year of graduation.


>>your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 August of the year of exam. there is relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.


Limit Number Of Attempts:


>>General: 4 attempts
>>OBC: 7 attempts
>>SC/ST: No Limit

After 12th,you can not become IPS officer.

IPS Exam Eligibility;-

1-You must be passed a graduate degree from a Indian recognized university

2-There is no percentage requirement


3-Appearing in final year candidates are also eligible.

Age limits;-

General age limits is 21-30 years. Age relaxation is given reserved category students.

Age relaxation;---

3 years age relaxation for OBC category

5 years age relaxation for SC/ST category

10 years for PH candidates
