UPSC as such does not conduct any specific exam for IT officers. But IT officers are very sought after and recruited in the banks. So you can definitely go for the bank exams as they too are pretty high profile jobs.IT officer as the name goes takes care of the various IT operations required in an organisation like he or she may work in networking domain, database management systems, etc.Banks these days are getting automised and going hi-tech with each passing day as you about the various facilities like net banking, online transactions,ATM,etc. These things are to be maintained by IT officers right? So there in comes their requirement. Now,keep a watch on SBI Specialist officers exam as well as Institute of Banking Personnel Exams or IBPS which conducts commnon written examination for 19 public sector banks to recruit specialist officers. You can then apply accordingly. Please check website www.ibps.in and http://www.statebankofindia.com/ for the bank recruitments every year.Best of Luck!

FIRST OF ALL I HAVE TO CLEAR YOU THAT YOU CAN APPEAR IN IES EXAM.

FOR THIS YOU HAVE TO CLICK THIS LINK http://www.upsc.gov.in/general/faq.htm

THIS LINK IS THE UPSC WEBSITE LINK THAT IN THE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION SECTION YOU CAN SEE THE REAL FACTOR.

IN THAT SECTION IT IS ASKED THAT WHICH TYPE OF ENGINEERING STUDENT CAN FILL UP THE FORM OF IES.

AND THE ANSWER IS WRITTEN BY UPSC THAT A candidate possessing a degree in Engineering in any discipline is eligible.

You have to clear SSC common graduate level exam to be an Income tax officer. It is a common exam for various posts including IT officer. Complete graduation is necessary for this.

IT officer may be either income tax officer or INformation technology officer
In case of Information technology officer, you have to write bank PO exam conducted by IBPS in the month of november. with that scorecard you can apply for specailist IT officer post in banks.
In case of Income tax officer, you have to write civil services exam by UPSC or combined graduate levle exam by SSC. If you go through UPSC you can get IRS(indian revenue service)

    Hello Friend,

As you've asked in your question that you want to be an IT Officer. Here, I'll give you advise to give the test of IES (Indian Engineering Services).

    Eligibility Criteria for IES:

    1. The candidate must have degree of engineering from recognized University.

    2. He/She must be citizen of India.

After cracking this exam you'll be able to fulfill your dream.

But UPSC doesn't conduct any specific exam for the post of IT Officer.

But yes, if you'll go for this you can get either govt. administration service or may join Indian Police service. It's really a high profile job.

    Eligibility Criteria for UPSC exam:

    1. Candidate must be graduate in any stream from recognized university.

    2. must be citizen of India.

    3. Age Limit: 21-30 years.

I wish this information will help you. Thanks.....................
