Re: Which is the best scoring optional paper between History and Geography for Mains? And why?
Dear aspirant it is obvious to score high in Civil services a candidate opt's either History or Geogrphy as mains subject as there is speciality a candidate can do more through these subjects many more common questions can be answeed through History or Geography. Now as per question if you have the any idea between two subjects before applying for Civil Services you must exercise accordingly to get the advantage of added knowledge.
If you have no idea between Geography & history then my advise to opt as History optional paper for mains exam.
Thank you,

Okay for the mains you can go for geography because if you choose history then you need to memorize various events of history and different dates and years which may be difficult to memorize and you may get confused with them and for geography you will be able to do it easily then history.
So check it out....

Re: Which is the best scoring optional paper between History and Geography for Mains? And why?
Dear friend,
it is totally depend on your knowledge and skill about the success , because if you have knowledge about the subject than it will be scoring for you.
but if you want our advice and want us to suggest you about the scoring subject than i tell you that geography is more scorer than
history because it is a factual and conceptual subject and contains small syllabus, and easy to learn while history wants more
concentration and it is also not very easy to learn so i advice you that if both are not n your graduation subjects than you should prefer
geography but if one of them is in your graduation subjects than you should choose that subject which was in your graduation.
see the details about your goal:-
you have proper knowledge about it.
Eligibility criteria:-
* the candidate must be the citizen of India.
* the candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university.

* for sc/st category:- 21 to 35 y.
also an age relaxation for physically handicapped persons of 10 years and for central govt. employees of 5 years.
selection process :-
# prelims examination
# mains examination

Re: Which is the best scoring optional paper between History and Geography for Mains? And why?
Dear,
According to me you select the geography subject rather than the history, because history is the complicated subject,
number of the dates and year in this subject,
So you took the geography subject if you have any interested in this subject
It is easy for you than the history and also syllabus is short rather than the geography.
And the study material easily available from the internet and market.
Best of luck for the exam
