Dear if you want to prepare for Indian Engineering Service Examination then this is not right time to prepare for this examination because if you start your study now then it may create a problem for you for both of your degree and your preparation of IES Examination because you are in 5th Semester of your bachelor's degree and it will take two more years to be completed so I would like to suggest you that first you should concentrate on the examination of your graduation and all semesters and try to score good percentage marks in each semester and study hard for every single topic that you have completed and going to complete in further semesters

IES Exam is a national level competitive examination where you will see the students of top most and highly reputed institutes of Engineering as IITs, BITS, Vellore etc. that is why you have to face stiff competition in your way to get selected and that is why you have to be prepared well before applying for this examination and this depends on the education and study of your all semesters because about 80% part of the examination depends on the specialization subject or preferred subject for this examination as if you are from Electrical Engineering stream then you will prefer the same subject for examination too so you will have to collect and store more and in depth knowledge about Electrical Engineering then only you will complete your basic and medium level study for IES examination and here you may see examination pattern of IES for better knowledge and details :

    Section I - Objective Type Papers :

Paper I - General Ability Test - 200 marks -( English Language and General Studies )

Paper II - Selected/ Preferred Subject of Engineering - 200 marks

Paper III - Selected/ Preferred Subject of Engineering - 200 marks

Section II - Conventional Type Papers :

Paper I - Selected Preferred Engineering Subject - 200 marks

Paper II - Selected Preferred Engineering Subject - 200 marks

So you may see the importance of the specialization subject of your degree so you should study hard and more for Electrical Engineering subject and complete your pre study for this examination because some relating and same questions may be asked from your graduation so you should complete the study before and when you will start preparation for this examination then you will not have so much problem in preparation and you will make you General Knowledge and English Language strong and will revise Engineering subject during preparation so this is the right time to prepare for this examination but only through completing study of your degree and do not join any coaching classes for this test until you complete your bachelor's degree when you appear for last paper of final semester then you should go to any good coaching institute and take help and guidance to become an Engineer under Central Government of India

For more details about Engineering Service Examination, you should download the notification attached below

    All the best

    Dear Aspirant

You can start your preparation now. This is the most crucial period As most of the paper of Electrical Engineering branch paper will be taught in 5th & 6th semester. You may go to the official websites of UPSC (www.upsc.gov.in).You may download from there previous years question paper and syllabus of Electrical Engineering. If possible bought objective and conventional solved question paper from market. As the branch paper are taught go on completing the syllabus of IES as well as questions.Clear all your doubts by asking with subject professor and if they are not capable then join reputed coaching institutes. This will help you to perform better in your university examination as well as prepare you for IES

    All the best
