Yes,of course an average student can also get selected for IAS.
But since the competition of an average student is with many brilliant candidates so average student should prepare for examination with very hard labour and firm determination.If preparation is done in a planned way and executed accordingly then even an average student can crack IAS but with somehow extra efforts and hard labour.

Yes of course. why not?

Any one who posses the eligibility criteria required for the exam can participate in IAS recruitment.

UPSC has not described in its eligibility norms that an average student can not give IAS exam.

If you have just passed your graduation exam then you can surely sit for the exam.

Here is the eligibility criteria:-

>> You must be a graduate with any stream or background.

>> Also no higher percentage requirement , just having in passed in the exam will do.

So there is nothing to worry about.

And why you are just thinking of participating you should instead think of getting selected in the exam.

See friend If you have the will power you can do anything and so you can even get into the top ranks of IAS.

Its not about being an average student, its about doing an honest preparation for the exam.

If you work hard and give your 100% you can crack exam.

One thing you must know is no. of attempts for the exam as it is restricted and so you can't think of wasting any attemmpts.

For general you have 4 attempts

For OBC its 7.

For SC/St no such restriction.

• It's one of the toughest examination, so very good preparation is required.

• The age limit described for it is 21 years to 30 years.
• You need to clear preliminary exam, main exam and interview.

Every year 600000 candidates on IAS Posting. but finally 80 members only selected on this posting.
In this exam is very compitative, so study will then attend that exam.
