no dear, you cannot take french as your second language, you can take any indian language such as tamil,telegu,kannad,malyalam,gujrati,assamese,etc

I am sorry to say but there is no provision of taking French as the second language in the upsc civil services examination.
The second language should be the one indian language only.
you can take the Regional language of the state as the second language
