NO, you cannot use the Gel pen.
YPSC CSAT exams would be held in Objective mode.
There will be two papers
You have to mark the answers using the black ball point pen only.
Next UPSC Prelims Exams will be held on 26th MAY 2013

Hello,
One has to use black ball point pen while filling the circles in preliminary exam. You might be asking this because of time taken to fill the circles with ball pen. Yes, it is true that ball point pen takes more time to fill the circles than that taken by a gel pen. But there is a solution too for this problem.
I strongly recommend to use CELLO MAXWRITER pen that has wider markings. You will save a lot of time with this pen in the exam.

There is very clearly written in the UPSC currycolumn that there is strictly prohibited the use of the gel pen in the exams.
You can use only ball point pen in the examination.
If you used the gel pen in the exam then your exam will be rejected .
So take care about that you must have to use the ball point pen in the examinations.

CSAT exam is conducted to join civil services.
CSAT exam will be objective type.
you have fill circle in preliminary exam.
according to rule, you can not use gel pen.
you have to fill the circle using only ball pen.
