CSAT exam stands for Civil Services Aptitude Test Which is conducted by UPSC.
There is no Requirement of Compulsory subjects to apply CSAT exam.
The following Eligibility must be satisfy;-
>>You must be passed a graduation degree from a Indian recognized university in any stream.
>>There is no percentage requirement.
>>Your age should be 21-30 years. Age relaxation for Reserved category.
>>You must be citizen of India.
You have to clear these stages to join any civil services post/Designation
1-Prelims exam or CSAT
2-Mains exam
3-Personality Interview

Dear Aspirant
Preliminary examination of civil service examination consists of two paper.Both the papers are of MCQ type and of two hours duration.Paper I will consists question of general studies.General Studies comprises question on history,geography,economics,general science.Paper 2 will consists questions on aptitude,reasoning,english comprehension.See I am listing the syllabus of paper 2.And all the mentioned topics are equally important and you cannot take a shortcut here.From two years UPSC is asking questions from al the mentioned topics.
1)Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
2)Logical reasoning and analytical ability
3)Decision-making and problem-solving
4)General mental ability Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level),
5)Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. - Class X level)
6)English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).
You may make a habit of reading newspaper daily.It will help you a lot in developing your comprehension skills and analysing critical aspects of comprehension.You may also visit official websites of UPSC (www.upsc.gov.in) to download syllabus and question paper.Previous years question paper will give you lot of idea of doing things in a right direction.If you go through them you will get a better idea of type of questions asked.

There will be a separate paper of CSAT in Prelims exam for 200 marks and all questions will be asked in objective type pattern so you should prepare all the above mentioned topics in depth to get good marks in preliminary and prove your eligibility for main examination of Indian Civil Service
This year's ICS Preliminary Examination has been conducted and main will be conducted in December so you should focus on the preparation of preliminary examination 2014 because you will be eligible for main examination after passing prelims so first preference should be for that then think about another exam

If you are interested then you may take any good coaching institute to get prepared well because ICS is not very easy exam like other competitive exams that you will pass without hardcore preparation then you may be wrong because so many aspirants are there who prepares for more than 3 years then get selected so you also have to follow toppers and make good practice and prepare for exam
