Eligibility for IFS:-
--Age limit is 21-30 years.
--The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST candidates & 3 years for O.B.C candidates.
--Candidates should fulfill the adequate physical standards.
--Bachelor�s degree from any recognized university with atleast one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry and veterinary Science, Botony, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology, Agriculture, Forestry or Engineering is required for applying in the entrance examination.
--General category candidates: Only 4 attempts are permissible.
--SC/ST category candidates: No limits in number of attempts.
--O.B.C category candidates: Only 7 attempts are permissible.
How to apply :-
--Candidates can apply for the IFS examination in both online and offline mode.
--In offline mode, candidates can purchase forms from designated Post Offices by a cash payment of Rs. 30/-.
--Online application can be downloaded from the website: www.upsconline.nic.in
EXAM PATTERN:-
--The examination pattern includes both objective and subjective type questions.
--English, Technical questions and General Awareness questions are mainly included in this examination.
--In addition to this, candidates should select two optional subjects also.
--Optional subjects include Forestry, Agriculture, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Agricultural, Mechanical and Civil Engineering Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science.
--Each paper is divided into two sections.
--The time duration for each paper is three hours.

Conservator of Forests(CFs): Rs. 16400-20000
Chief Conservator of Forests: Rs.18400-22400
Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests: Rs 24050-26000
IFS is simply known as Indian forest service. UPSC conduct exam every year for filling the vacancies of IFS.
Eligibility for IFS:
Educational Qualification:
1. The aspirant must posses a bachelor degree in Agriculture,Forestry,
Animalhusbandry,VeterinaryScience,Geology,Physics, Chemistry,Botany,Zoology, Statistics,Agricultural Engineering,Civil Engineering,Mechanical Engineering,chemical engineering.
2.Those in final year and those appear the final year exam also appear the IFS exam.
Age:
1.For General-Minimum age 21 year & Maximum age 30 year.
2.The upper age limit will be relaxed by 5 year for SC/ST 3 years for OBC.
3.The upper age limit is also relaxed in favour of Defence services personnel.
4.up to a maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and orthopaedically handicapped persons.
Other eligibility:
The candidate should be a citizen of India.
Number of Attempt:
For general category the candidates who are eligible shall be permitted 4 attempts at the examination.The restriction is not aply for Sc/ST and the eligible candidates of OBC is permitted to 7 attempt at the examination.
The Exam devided in to 3 parts:
1.Preliminary-(Objective type questions)
2.Main Exam (Written exam)
3.Interview.

IFoS stands for Indian Forest Service, it is a highest rank post under the forest department and if once you become IFoS officer then you would manage a complete and huge forest area and you should have following eligibilities to get this post :

Botany
Chemistry
Engineering
Forestry
Geology
Mathematics
Statistics
Zoology
Age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age would be provided only to reserved category candidates as - 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC category candidates
There would be 6 papers conducted in this exam and each paper would be conducted in conventional type mode and qualifying in each paper is necessary and the papers are as - General Knowledge - I and English Language - I and other 4 paper would be conducted from those two subjects which would be selected by you means each optional subject has 2 papers and each paper contains 300 marks
