Re: Differentiate IAS and IPS. What is the eligibility criteria for IPS?

    dear aspirant,

IAS stands for Indian Administration Service and IPS stands for Indian Police Service. both IAS and IPS has equal rank service and get equal facilities and equal salary. IAS has direct contact with top ministers and IPS works in police department. both are the prestigious posts.

for IAS or IPS you have to write civil Services Exam that is conducted by UPSC every year.

Civil Services exam is conducted in three sections:
    >>prelims(CSAT)
    >>mains
    >>Interview

for Civil Services exam you have completed the graduation course from recognized college or university with any percentage.
your age should be within 21 years to 30 years. and upper age limit is relaxable upto 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

you can apply for the exam online on following official link of UPSC:

IAS: Indian Administrative service... Briefly saying IAS is a higher post than IPS, no uniforms are required while working... Obviously the rank also should be high in UPSC exam...
IPS: Indian police service... Uniforms might be required while working... Post is less than IAS...
    Eligibility:
    Age: 21-30 for OC, 21-33 for MBC, 21 -35 for SC/ST...
Qualification: Any degree from government approved college... Can apply when you are in the final year of graduation....
Candidate must be a Indian citizen....

    Hi
IAS is the Indian administrative services, whereas IPS stands for Indian police services.
In IAS, you are appointed as the collector or one of the highest rank of the district. Whereas in the Indian police services you are designated at respected posts in the police services.
For getting into the IAS and IPS services, you need to give the exam named civil services examination. The examination is conducted by the upsc every year. And there are three phases of this examination.
First the preliminary examination, then the mains and finally the interview.
    Gud luck
