no dear , there is no such big difference in CDS-1 and CDS-2 exam.
the exam pattern , the syllabus and exam eligibility etc every thing is the same.
the only difference in the two exam is that the CDS-1 exam is conducted prior to CDS-2 exam in April month and the CDS -2 exam is conducted in September/August month.
the age limit and the education qualification needed for both the exam is the same.

There is no difference between these two exam.
CDS 1 exam is conducted feb moth and CDS 2 exam is conducted October month.
You can direct CDS 2 exam without applying CDS 1 exam.
Eligibility;-
1)you must be passed a bachelor degree from a recognized university
science subject for navy as well air force
any stream for Indian army.
2)your age should be between
19-22 years for Indian air force

CDS I conducts in the month of FEB every year.
CDS II conducts in the month of SEPTEMBER every year.
based on the month of examination the AGE LIMIT will get slightly change.

The eligiblty , pattern etc is same.
There is only one change that CDS-1 during in April.
And CDS 2 during in sept.
No there is no difference in CDS I and CDS II, both are the same exam conducted by the upsc twice in an year. Both having at a different time, that�s it. Rest all is the same and you can appear in both of the exam of your age is in between 19-24 years of age.

The Acronym "CDS" stands for Combined Defense Services Examination. The Examination is conducted twice every year as CDS-I & CDS-II Exam respectively.
