If you are good in mechanical engineering or physics then you may select any one of them as optional.As new pattern of UPSC allows selection of only one optional that also in main examination.You may download previous years question of both the subject and try o solve them.This will give you clear idea.If you want to give examiation from these papers and feel you lack some concepts then you may take coaching.
