Because you can choose your optional subject on your own wish
And upsc is allowing the candidates to choose the optional subjects
On their wish you can choose your subject that you want
But their is compulsory subjects also
That you have to choose if you want to write the upsc exam
And the subjects are english
And g.k you have to give the exam of these subjects
