if you are asking for ias prelims which was held on may 2012 -the result is likely to be announced in late july or early august

upsc declare the result 2-3 month after the written exam. it is not compulsory the result the is declare within 2-3 month it may be late or quick. after the exam you reqularly update with the official website of the upsc www.upsc.gov.in for the result detail.

UPSC releases all the results within 90days after written exams.

CSE(Civil Service Exam) Prelims are released with a month.

And CSE Mains are released within 90days.

and its not having a minor sessions
any upsc exam will takes the period of time for announce results is minimum
2 months i.e.,60days
because it will be conducted by through out India
so that it should some time period takes place
after announcement of the results you will be called with in 45 days
for interview or other sessions of the process of recruitment
first of all you have to prepare for your subjects of the exams
