If we look at the eligibility criteria for IAS exam then it doesn't matter what you study in 10+2. So practically you can opt for any stream in 10+2 for IAS examination.

You must opt for those subjects in which you have interest and can devote lot of time in studies. Because IAS exam requires a lot of preparation and you must have a keen interest in the subjects then only you can succeed.

Becoming a IAS officer is not guaranteed so you must opt for a stream which can create other job opportunities for you so that you can have other options in your future.

So i would advice you to opt for Physics, Chemistry and Maths because this combination can offer you wide range of scope if you complete Graduation in these subjects. There are many government jobs for Engineering Graduates as well as private jobs. So opt for PCM and keep preparing for IAS exam along with the studies.

You must get proper study material for IAS preparation and you must maintain a strict schedule for preparation. Also if you are not confident enough in your self studies then opt for coaching classes.

    Hello Friend,
Nice to see that you are interested in IAS from now onwards.

But technically there is no need to choose any certain stream for the IAS exam in the 12th level. You may choose your stream according to you own wish and interest.

It is stated in the notification of the IAS published by the UPSC that the candidates should have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

In your bachelor degree also you may choose any stream and subjects but you should have interest in it.

    Best of Luck....!!!

    Dear friend,
for becoming an IAS officer only educational eligibility criteria is that you must have passed graduation in any stream from a recognized university.

So no matter what group you choose in class 11th you will be eligible to appear in Civil Services Examination after completing your graduation.

So you should choose that group which you find easiest to study and understand because it is going to help you in long terms for completing your aspirations of becoming an IAS officer.

Thank you and all the best
