Dear if you want to know about the difficulty level of examination of Combined Defense Service conducted by UPSC board twice a year then before everything you should know that there will be following three papers conducted in IMA section under CDS :
Paper I - English Language - You will see different parts of English language as - Spotting Errors, Sentence Fillers, Synonyms and Antonyms, Finding Appropriate word on the place of another word, Jumbled Sentences etc. so you have to cover all the parts in this section then you will be able to qualify this exam
Paper II - General Knowledge - Most of the topics will be related to current affairs and highlighted issues in the world, Who is Who?, Economy of India and Global Economic Questions, Political System and Constitution of India, Some questions will be asked from History and Geography then you will see that questions are based on General Science and Technology and engineering and medical related questions
Paper III - Elementary Mathematics - Almost all parts of Mathematics will be covered in this paper which are - Averages and Ages, Speed and Time and Distance, Allegation of Mixture, Partnership, Discount, Profit and Loss, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration, Ratio and Proportion, Algebra etc.
So you have to cover all the topics that are listed under the syllabus and get practiced well so you could qualify examination with good marks and get call letter for further process and do not think that examination will be tough enough this will be tough more than expected but only for those who does not study and just fill the application form to appear for examination and this is not tough for those who apply and start preparation according to the availability of time that is why you should also not be like those who think that examination is tough because if it were tough then it would never have passed by any candidate so you should think that you are going to be listed in those candidates who are gonna qualify this exam
Wait for next year's CDS I examination that is possible to be held around February 2014 and buy some good books and keep syllabus with yourself and if possible then take coaching institute to get good proficiency and qualifying in exam
All the best
