for IES(Indian Engineering Services) exam there is no limit of number of attempts for any category. The exam is conducted by UPSC every year. so you can apply any number of times for IES exam. So don't worry about that and just prepare hard to crack the exam and don't think about such a things and just try to crack in your first attempt. for IES exam you need to have Engineering degree in any discipline from recognized college or university. you can also apply for UPSC IES exam while studying in final year of Engineering course.
for IES your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 January of the year of the exam. There is also relaxation in upper age as per 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

For IES exam you should be graduate in engineering and also can apply in last year of engineering graduation.
Number Of Attempts :-
General category candidates has 4 attempts to apply where as BC category candidates has 7 attempts to apply and SC/ST candidates has no limit to apply for same.

Whether it is open category or any other,IES does not have any limitations in the number of attempt.
UnLike other services IES have unlimited attempt possible.
Any category it may be,only condition is to keep satisfying the age criteria,as long as your age is well under criteria,there is no harm in applying as many times.

In the open category there is no limitations as per no of attempts in I.E.S is concerned.
The only limitations are as per:-
>>Age
>>Nationality
>>Educational Qualifications.
>>Physical Standards.
You can apply for it as many times you want , provided you fulfill the above barriers.

There are no any limits in number of attempts in IES exam.
One can give the exam till one are eligible for the exam i.e. one fulfill the criteria for the exam.
In CSE there are limits on number of attempts like
4 for general
7 for obc
no limit for sc/st
But there are no such limits in IEs exam.
Any category candidate can give as much time IES exam till one fulfill the criteria.

There are no restrictions in the number of attempts for the IES examination. One can appear for the exam as many times as they want, unless they fulfill the eligibility criteria.
For giving the IES exam, the eligibility is that you should be a graduate in any of the civil/mechanical/electrical/ECE
And your age should be in between 21-30 years.
A relaxation of 3 and 5 years is given to the obc and the sc/st candidates respectively
