THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA OF EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION STATES THAT-ANY ENGINEERING DEGREE IN ANY DISCIPLINE ARE ELIGIBLE FOR APPLYING IN IES.
But examination will be taken only upon four streams
1)Civil Engineering
2)Mechanical Engineering'
3)Electronics and Communication Engineering
4)Electrical Engineering
Only these four streams,you can choose to give exams.
There will be two types of question papers model
1)Objective Type
2)Conventional Type.
Each type have two question papers each of one branch.
Civil Engineering objective I,civil Engineering objective II,Civil engineering conventional I,civil engineering conventional II.
Question papers are available in the website of UPSC
www.upsc.gov.in
You should not worry for the same because whatever branch you will fill in the application form you will get the paper related to the same because paper will not be made different as per the qualification so you should not worry for the same.
There are every branches are inclided in the engineering services exam like civil services/electrical/electronics/electronics and telecommunication etc.
If you prepare well for the examination and also get the proper coaching for the same then you will clear the examination easily i cannot say for the ranks because it totalyy depends on the number of people applying for the exam.

yes you are right.IES (indian engineering servcie) is the writtene xam conduct by upsc to recruit engineers in government services.
so to be eligible for IES,you must satify its eligibility conditions like
IES ELIGIBILITY=
a)age limit=21-30 years
b)educational qualification=
degree in engineering or equivallent or M.Sc in wireless communication,radio physics ,electronics, as special subjects
-candidates who are appearing for degree final year examination can also apply for this IES ..
-Those who had passed need to show the proof of passing
exam pattern=consists of 2 parts
1)part I= Objective types
2)part II=Conventional

some of other eligibility criteria required for appearing in IES examination are:-
1.You should be a citizen of India.
2.The age limit is 21-30 years for General candidates with a relaxation in age of 3,5 and 5 years for OBC,SC and ST candidates respectively.
3.You should have passed your graduation in Engineering from any engineering stream and from a government recognized university.
The subjects involved in question paper are the subjects studied during engineering graduation through above 4 mentioned branches,general English,aptitude and general studies.

dear friend. the indian engineering services examination is not the common exam amongst all the branches. It is different according the branch which are eligible for it and only questions related to the respective branches are asked in the exam.
for giving the exam you need to be a gradaut4e in any of the following streams
mechanical/electrical/civil/ECE
moreover your age should be in between 21-30 years of age.
a relaxation of 3 and 5 years is given to the obc and the sc/st category respectively
